Franklin is in a class all its own. It’s a place where we can take sidewalks to a world-class concert at the Franklin Theatre, or pick pumpkins straight from the farm. You can catch a bluegrass concert on the square or kayak down the Harpeth River. Industry, innovation, history and culture, Franklin has it all and more. Since I moved to Franklin in 2009, Franklin has seen exponential growth, and many have discovered the best kept secret in Middle Tennessee to visit, live and work.

Franklin’s Ward 4 encompasses the historic district and all of the new developments of west Franklin. It is the old and the new, and I’m blessed to call it my home. My name is Elizabeth Downing Wanczak and I am running for Alderman because Franklin is at a pivotal point in its story. Growth brings challenges that require attentive answers and stewardship to incorporate our history harmoniously into our future. As Alderman, I would faithfully serve the residents of Ward 4 and all the citizens of Franklin in ensuring that the Franklin we know and love is here to stay.

About

Raised in Houston, Texas, Elizabeth was drawn to Tennessee, first as a singer/songwriter and then to attend Sewanee: The University of the South, where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s in political science. She moved to Franklin in 2009 and fell in love with the city’s charm, history, picturesque landscape, and warm, friendly people. A published songwriter, paralegal, and entrepreneur, she owned and operated Write Off the Row, a songwriting studio in Nashville, until April of this year.

Elizabeth serves on the administrative council of Franklin’s Christ United Methodist Church and the Chapter Advisory Board of the Sewanee chapter of Kappa Delta Sorority. A lifelong political nerd, she has always had an interest in local issues and policy. Recently with the death of a dear friend, she realized it was time to become even more involved and run to serve the people of Franklin’s Ward 4 as Alderman.

Elizabeth and her husband Nick, an Iraq War veteran, have one daughter and two rescue beagles.
